چکیده:
Illegal speed is one of the most common violations among drivers. For this reason, many studies have been conducted in the field of identifying factors affecting speed choice by drivers. The main goal of this research is to identify the factors affecting the speed choice of male drivers. In terms of objective, this research is applied and in terms of implementation method, it is descriptive-survey. The statistical population consists of all drivers traveling on highways and extra-urban freeways in Isfahan province, who were selected using the non-random easy sampling method and evaluated through a questionnaire tool. The results of this research show that there is a significant relationship between driver speed and human and vehicle factors. With increasing driver age, years since obtaining a driver's license (driving experience), and driver education, speed increases to a certain extent and then decreases. Additionally, drivers of newer vehicles with more powerful engines and more complete insurance policies have higher chosen speeds.

Additionally, the impact of driving experience, driver education, and vehicle-related factors including age, engine displacement, and vehicle insurance on the speed of Iranian drivers, which has received less attention among domestic studies, has been investigated and shows that these factors have a completely significant relationship with their speed choice.
The effect of drivers' age on speed choice has also been investigated in numerous articles thereafter, and the same result was obtained (Shinar2, 2001; Herberg3, 1978; Wasielewski4 , 1984; Galin5, 1981; Quimby6, 1999; Leandro7, 2012).
Investigation of the gender variable in various studies shows that the average speed of men is higher compared to women (Quimby, 1999; Shinar, 2001; Ulleberge1, 2000; Smeed, 1973; Galin, 1981), but Herberg2 (1978) and Wasielewski (1984) did not find a significant difference between gender and speed choice by drivers.
Among vehicle-related factors, the influence of age, engine displacement, and ownership status has been more investigated than other variables in the speed choice by drivers.
Other studies in this field also show that there is a significant relationship between the driving manner of other people and the speed choice by the driver (Haglund, 2000; Ryeng3, 2012; Fleiter et al.
