Nowadays, one of the fundamental issues in the field of social studies is the emergence of collective behaviors among the youth segment of society. Collective behaviors in society can manifest themselves in the form of unrests such as riots, conflicts, political protests, etc. Collective behavior includes related, unstructured, and more or less spontaneous collective reactions of individuals to a stimulus (Dressler, 1388: 456). Studying and identifying the elements and components that form these behaviors is important for social science scholars. Accordingly, the main objective of this article is the effect of alienation on the creation and formation of collective protest behaviors of the youth in Kermanshah city. This research was conducted using the survey method and through the questionnaire tool. The statistical population under study is youth between the ages of 19 to 35 in Kermanshah city. 400 young people were selected from the statistical population using systematic random sampling. To test the research hypotheses, Pearson correlation coefficient, independent groups t-test, and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used, and for testing the empirical model of the research, multivariate analysis of covariance was employed. Based on the research findings, there is a significant relationship between different dimensions of alienation and the collective behaviors of youth. The results show that the average score of individuals' collective behavior, which was measured using questions in a 5-point Likert scale format and determined in the range of 1 to 5, is 14.38 in the dimension of favorable structural conditions, 18.20 in the dimension of structural pressures, 22.32 in the dimension of generalized beliefs, 17.83 in the dimension of accelerating or pressure-inducing factors, 16.61 in the dimension of participant mobilization, and finally, this average is 19.07 in the dimension of social control.
