The aim of this article is to examine the factors affecting psychological violence by men against women in the city of Isfahan in the year 1389. In this research, radical feminist theories, gender schema, conflict theory, and resource theory have been used. Data were collected via questionnaire from a sample of 200 married women in the city of Isfahan. The independent variables include the structure and method of exercising power in the family, gender stereotypes, patriarchal attitudes which have a positive relationship, and social support, socio-economic status, and education which have a negative relationship with domestic violence against women. The majority of women, about 40%, have intense patriarchal attitudes and 42% have intense gender stereotypes. The results obtained from regression analysis show that the independent variables explain approximately 79.0 percent of the variance of the dependent variable.

Investigation of relationships between research variables (inferential statistics) To investigate the relationships between the research variables (power structure in the family, patriarchal attitude, gender stereotypes, style of exercising power in the family, social support, socio-economic status), all variables were tested separately in relation to the dependent variable, namely psychological violence against women, and the results are presented as follows.
Furthermore, the results obtained from the β coefficients show that family power structure, social support, socio-economic status, patriarchal attitude, and methods of exercising power enter the regression equation directly, while gender stereotypes enter indirectly, and they have a significant effect on psychological violence.
