چکیده:
Despite years of failure in indigenizing social sciences in Iran, today that same project has resurfaced under the title of 'Islamizing the humanities' with a more intense tone and less tolerance. One of the historical challenges between social sciences and the realm of power in Iran is that, unlike natural sciences, the state has not been able to achieve complete dominance over the humanities and exploit them as a tool to consolidate hegemony. On the other hand, the state views social science topics, such as social issues, pathologies, and deviations, as political matters, thereby increasing the scope of challenges. In this struggle, on one side, political power seeks to control the political space through 'socio-cultural engineering,' and on the other side, intellectuals in the field of humanities and social sciences, in response, refer to social theories such as political struggles. Under such conditions, neither have social sciences been able to develop in Iran, nor has political power been able to overcome Western social sciences and reduce social deviations.

The Challenge Between Social Science Discourses and the Power Paradigm in Iran 1 Mohammad Ali Mohammadi (Date received 2011/04/20, Date accepted 2011/12/21) Abstract Despite years of failure in indigenizing social sciences in Iran, today that same project has been re-proposed under the title of "Islamizing the humanities" with a harsher tone and less tolerance.
com Introduction: Background of the Challenge The debate over the indigenization of social sciences in Iran, after several years of verbal and scientific disputes—which were essentially a battle—has re-emerged today under the title of "Islamizing the humanities" with an aggressive approach and less accommodation, in order to increase the scope of existing challenges.
If social sciences and sociology were able to provide a field for explanation, criticism, and opinion by proposing discourses of Orientalism, Westoxification, and colonialism, and to be influential, it was for this reason that governments welcomed the anti-Western approach of social sciences; however, in the field of pathology of the obstacles to indigenous development and modernization, which was the position of criticizing power, it was strictly controlled and limited.
The state or the power paradigm in Iran, in an attempt to resolve its conflicts with the social sciences, seeks to indigenize or Islamize them and has exerted great effort in this regard.
Theorists do not consider the idea of Islamizing knowledge to be possible (Turner, 1384: 42), but indigenization is possible in the same sense and expression that social science scholars in the West, in the form of orientalists or Eurocentric thinking, thought along with governments for national interests and provided solutions or theories.
