چکیده:
The increasing need for various forms of information has caused the survival of human societies to become heavily dependent on the flow of information and timely communication. The evaluation of the effects of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) on the economic performance of countries has been a subject of attention since the 1990s. Due to its unique characteristics, ICT can affect many variables in society. Therefore, in this study, we investigated the effects of ICT on total factor productivity in Iran. The model under investigation was estimated using the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) approach for Iran during the years 1978-2011. The results of this study show that ICT has had a positive and significant effect on total factor productivity during the period studied. Therefore, producers can use new technologies to increase efficiency and thereby contribute to increasing total factor productivity.
