In the literature, the feasibility of industrial projects has been raised from many perspectives, but the idea that projects should be sustainable in the long term has not been addressed. This issue, alongside the increasing attention to sustainable development, has created a need for a model to examine it. In this research, in order to ensure the sustainability of industrial projects, first, the common points of existing feasibility study models in the literature were examined. Then, using soft systems methodology, the main and common activities of these models were integrated into a coherent mental model by adding an integration activity. This model has two activities, monitoring and control, through which the compatibility of feasibility studies with sustainability principles is examined and determined within a methodology. In determining this compatibility, two methods, the Balanced Scorecard and Soft Systems Methodology, were proposed and examined, and ultimately, the Soft Systems Methodology was selected. Finally, the validity of the proposed methodology was evaluated through a case study analysis.

In the model, decision-making levels must be specified: at the macro level, it is the feasibility study, and its sub-levels include holding meetings with experts from stakeholder teams, differentiating the stated worldviews, preparing compatibility criteria for the report with sustainable development principles, constructing RDs and CMs according to them, completing the SSM process with experts from stakeholder teams, and finally, documenting and providing suggestions to the control team.
The analyst prepares the compatibility criteria of the report with sustainable development principles based on the topics discussed in the meeting and, to complete the SSM process, defines a number of systems (based on the stated Ws) and builds a number of models according to them, then applies them to reality again and holds another meeting with the stakeholders, where they once again present different perspectives on the model and draw conclusions, and finally, they present a series of changes and suggestions.
