چکیده:
The aim of this study was to check the mediating role of self-esteem for quality of life and at risk behavior. The sample consisted of 300 college students in Marvdasht Branch of Islamic Azad University. The sampling method was multistage cluster sampling. The World Health of Quality of Life Scale, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Questionnaire, and Young's Risk Behaviors Scale were used in this study. The results of path analysis revealed that self-esteem has a significant mediating role for quality of life and at risk behavior. Also the results showed that quality of life has significant direct and indirect effect for at risk behavior. In sum, high quality of life leads to low at risk behavior and low self-esteem is associate with high level of at risk behavior.

The majority of previous studies found that among the conditions that can cause or exacerbate high-risk behaviors are low quality of life, academic decline, psychological distress, negative mental health, anxiety, depression, and stress (Abbasi and Panah-Anbari, 1380; Nikbakht Nasrabadi et al.
Thus, in this research, the influential factors that can play a constructive and significant role in prevention have been investigated, and an appropriate answer to the question of whether self-esteem can play a strong mediating and protective role in students' quality of life and the emergence of high-risk behaviors has been examined.
