چکیده:
The aim of the present research is to compare postpartum depression in working and homemaker women and its relationship with social support and marital adjustment. To this end, a sample of 300 people was selected using a multi-stage cluster random sampling method from women visiting the Tabriz Women-Obstetrics centers (who were 6 to 12 weeks postpartum), and the Beck Depression Inventory, Spanier Marital Adjustment Scale, and Phillips Social Support Scale questionnaires were completed by them. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient, stepwise regression, and independent two-group t-test. The findings indicate a 28 percent prevalence of postpartum depression and higher average depression scores in homemaker women. Additionally, the findings showed that approximately 52 percent of the variance in postpartum depression is explained by marital adjustment and social support.

Hadi Zadeh Talasaz, Bahri, and Tavakolizadeh (2003), in a study titled "Comparison of the rate of postpartum depression in natural childbirth and emergency cesarean section in women during their first pregnancy," showed that there was a significant relationship between postpartum depression scores, the quality of marital relationships, and mental health.
- Cobb - Hollander Azimi Lolati, Danesh, Hosseini, Khalilian, and Zarghami (2002), in a study aimed at determining the prevalence of postpartum depression and some related factors among women visiting health-treatment centers in Sari city, concluded that there is a relationship between postpartum depression and life stressful events during the past year, family support, child health status, the feeling of ability to care for the child, and the presence of illness during the current childbirth.
(2007), in order to determine the prevalence and effective factors on postpartum depression, in a study on 470 mothers whose childbirth had occurred between 2 weeks to 6 months ago, concluded that the prevalence of postpartum depression is 22/1 and also there is a significant relationship between postpartum depression and spouse's education, unwanted pregnancy, history of psychiatric disorders, unfortunate events, history of miscarriage, social support, fear during pregnancy and childbirth, marital dissatisfaction, and spouse's occupation.
Therefore, the researchers of this article set out to conduct a study comparing postpartum depression in working and homemaker women and its relationship with social support and marital adjustment.
