خلاصه ماشینی:
(1388), by comparing sensation seeking, self-esteem, emotional climate, and socio-economic status in delinquent and normal male adolescents, found that there is a significant difference between the two groups in terms of the above items.
Given the importance of the role of the family and psychological variables in the emergence of social abnormalities, including delinquency, the main objective of the present research is to compare parenting styles, self-esteem, and general health in delinquent and normal adolescents.
Descriptive information of the research variables (Refer to the page image) Table No. 1 shows the frequency, mean, and standard deviation of the variables age, parenting styles, self-esteem, and general health among delinquent and normal male adolescents.
The results obtained from the multivariate analysis indicate that there is a significant difference between the delinquent and normal groups in at least one of the dependent variables (self-esteem, parenting styles (permissive, authoritarian, and authoritative), and general health score).
In other words, looking at the group means, the results indicate that the delinquent adolescent group has lower self-esteem and general health and mostly belongs to families with an authoritarian parenting style.
The results obtained from testing the research hypotheses showed that a significant difference was found between delinquent and normal male adolescents in terms of authoritarian parenting styles and general health, meaning that the more families use these authoritarian educational and parenting approaches, the greater the general health problems of their children.
