The present survey aims at examining the factors effective in preventing destroying public assets by Mazandaran province students with respect to theoretical issues and experimental information resulted from survey performed on vandalism in Iran and abroad. Vandalism is a new phenomenon which is a hostile reaction toward some forms of pressures, adversity and failures which lead to deliberate damage of public and private facilities and assets. Social researchers believe that vandalism by young people can be an introduction to felonious behaviors. Having a deep glance at the issue, one can figure out that the youngsters, who damage public assets and damage educational centers equipment, cause an improper scene to appear. In the meantime, vandalism overwhelms the security and social fields of citizens. The data has been gathered through survey and utilizing conducted questionnaire technique. N=500 included 500 teenagers and youngsters ranging from 10 to 25 in Mazandaran province. Data was gathered through cluster- categorical random sampling with accuracy of (d=5%) and 95% assurance coefficient (t=1.96). The results of the survey indicate that there is significant relationship between manner of spending leisure time, parents’ education, parents’ job, relationship with people of the same age, family income, accommodation status, place of living, complexion, social-economic class, educational success and average scores on one had, and the level of tendency toward vandalism among boy and girls in Mazandaran province. Finally, through using regression, it came out that manner of spending leisure time (27%), relationship with people of the same age (23%), social and economic class (17%), place of residence (11%)have been effective in displaying vandalism among students.

In particular, with a deep look at this issue, it can be understood that young people, by destroying public property in educational places (such as breaking benches and engraving on them, writing various slogans and mementos on doors and walls), in addition to creating an inappropriate cultural and social image and destroying public and private property and damaging the welfare facilities of society, are effectively venting unresolved complexes on these tools, which, considering the above statement, can be the initial groundwork for future delinquency.
