چکیده:
This meta-analysis includes 50 existing Persian articles about national identity in Iran, which were mentioned in the Social Identity Bibliography published in 1388. To conduct this meta-analysis with an integrative insight, a comprehensive form was prepared. Through this form, all information from each article related to 22 defined variables was extracted and analyzed using quantitative and qualitative methods, and based on that, the meta-analysis report was organized consisting of an introduction and 8 sections. The results obtained show that most articles have an explanatory aspect. However, in 90 percent of them, the review of sources and texts is either not performed or is very superficial. The dominant paradigms of these articles have a reductionist aspect. The methods used are mostly simple and irregular qualitative methods. In defining national identity, reference is made to the existence of common elements, individuals' awareness of these elements, and a sense of commitment toward them. The descriptive findings of some articles refer to the authenticity, antiquity, and inherent nature of the Iranian-Islamic identity. However, in most works, national identity in Iran is an emerging phenomenon that has taken shape simultaneously with Iranians' acquaintance with modernity, the expansion of globalization, and the formation of a modern state in Iran. Today, this national identity is in crisis and undergoing transformation. In explaining this crisis and the transformation of national identity in Iran, each group of articles has emphasized specific factors that are mainly reductionist in nature. Despite weaknesses such as being descriptive and having theoretical and methodological reductionism, the articles also possess strengths, the most important of which are attention to the historical, cultural, religious, social, and especially political dimensions of national identity, describing the past and present situation, and attempting to explain its process of transformation in Iran.
