چکیده:
Studying the relationship between ethics and politics and creating a type of interaction between ethical theory and political theory is one of the important scientific issues in the field of political philosophy. Khwaja Nasir al-Din al-Tusi and Niccolò Machiavelli are among the philosophers and statesmen who, in two different intellectual traditions (Islam and the West), have addressed the modification of the relationship between ethics and politics in their philosophical and political studies. This article, regardless of the necessary and specific differences between the two intellectual traditions, and considering commonalities based on shared socio-political issues, while analyzing the turbulent and disordered times of both thinkers and comparing their ethical and political theories, aims to show why and how Nasir al-Din and Machiavelli present their theories with different goals: one idealistic, oriented towards the Islamic society and the hereafter, and the other realistic, oriented towards the Italy of their time and this world. Furthermore, in this article, an attempt has been made, inspired by Spengler's macro-approach and text hermeneutics, to understand the internal logic of political theories, while dissecting the ethical and political views of each of the two thinkers from Islam and the West, through the analysis of their ethical and political foundations, to show why and how the political strategy of these two thinkers, despite believing in two-level ethics and a single point of departure, has reached different goals in the approach to the relationship between ethics and politics.

In other words, this article considers the cause of such a difference to be Khwaja Nasir's teleology and the ideal Muslim community, and Machiavelli's parochialism and glory oriented towards Italian nationalism, and aims to discover and document this proposition and difference through the rereading of the views and theories presented in their most important works, using the chosen approach of "why" and "how" and, in Sprngenz's expression, the internal logic.
(16) In contrast, Seyyed Hassan Eslami considers the relationship between ethics and politics in the thought of Khwaja Nasir al-Din al-Tusi to be based on the "unity of ethics and politics"; a matter that, in fact, does not believe in a definitive boundary between ethics and politics.
