چکیده:
The aim of the present research is to examine and analyze the amount and type of cognitive load created in users when facing and using suggested keywords and phrases by the Google search engine for the purpose of search expansion. The required data were obtained through questionnaires, observation, and think-aloud protocols. The research samples were selected based on non-probability purposive sampling. Accordingly, a sample of 60 people from two groups of graduate students in the fields of humanities/social sciences and basic sciences/technical-engineering was considered, and separate sessions were arranged with each of them. The results showed that the suggested keywords and phrases and the retrieved results did not create a large negative cognitive load for the users. Also, there is no significant difference between the level of cognitive load of students in the two fields of humanities/social sciences and basic sciences/technical-engineering in search expansion in the Google search engine. Most of the suggested keywords/phrases and retrievals were consistent with the users' needs and were somehow related to their initial keyword. Overall, it can be inferred that the approach of providing suggested keywords/phrases in search engines is an appropriate approach in terms of the type and amount of cognitive load it creates in users.
خلاصه ماشینی:
Table 6 provides a general overview of users' opinions regarding the elements and components of suggested keywords and phrases and the retrieved pages of the search engine during use, showing their frequency, percentage frequency, and mean responses in relation to the perception of each element of web pages.
In other words, the more suggested keywords, phrases, and retrieved pages are provided in relation to the users' needs, and the more they can match each of them with their mental structures in the short term, the better the search and learning will occur.
009993 Based on Table 7, for all variables considered to determine the amount of intrinsic cognitive load, the null hypothesis is not rejected (at the level ); meaning that the suggested keywords/phrases and retrieved pages did not create intrinsic cognitive load for users.
In other words, the question is to what extent users are familiar with the nature and role of suggested keywords/phrases in the Google search engine and use them toward better understanding and learning.
The purpose of this part of the question was to determine to what extent the suggested keywords/phrases and the retrieved pages of the Google search engine have been able to be effective in facilitating the process of knowledge acquisition and learning for users.
000 As observed in the results of Table 9, for all dependent cognitive load variables, the null hypothesis is rejected (at the level ); meaning that the suggested keywords and phrases of the Google search engine created relevant cognitive load.
