Jamal and Jalal are two unique terms in Islamic philosophy and mysticism. However, their role in the realm of traditional art, especially miniature painting, is so amazing that explaining miniature painting is not quite possible without examining their function. In Iranian miniature painting, particularly in the Rashidah Shahnameh miniatures, various characters are depicted with specific existential and visual subtleties. This feature can be examined under value-based categories: good and evil creatures; imaginary: mythological and real creatures; mystical: lovers and beloveds; social: kings and beggars; and demonic: divs and dragons. All these creatures can be examined under the manifestations of Jamal and Jalal. However, this article focuses on demonic creatures and why the spirit governing miniature painting and the Rashidah Shahnameh miniatures is beauty, to the extent that even demons are depicted beautifully. The theoretical origin of aesthetics must be sought in the manifestations of Jamal and Jalal. From the perspective of Jamal and beauty, the Iranian miniaturist has observed and depicted the majesty and Jalal of terrifying creatures.
