The aim of this research is to comparatively examine the stressors and coping mechanisms for stressors in runaway and normal girls in Tehran city. In this study, on one hand, the level of stressors in runaway and normal girls and, on the other hand, their coping mechanisms were compared. In the present research, which is an ex post facto study, 90 individuals were selected as a sample to test the hypotheses (45 runaway girls and 45 normal girls). The sample of runaway girls was selected from prisons and welfare care centers and girls who had a history of running away once and were returned to their families, while the sample of normal girls with similar characteristics to the runaway girls was randomly selected from girls' high schools in District 6 of Tehran. All subjects were evaluated using the "Adolescent Life Events Scale" and the "Coping Strategies Questionnaire." The results obtained showed that there is a significant difference between stressors and coping mechanisms for stressors in runaway and normal girls.
