The Relationship of Culture with Resistance to Change or its Acceptance Written by Dr. Seyed Mohammad Mirkamali The rapid change of societies due to knowledge and technology, the change in people's attitudes and needs, the change in human relationships, and the change in all aspects of life and civilization have caused many changes to arise in organizations1; due to these rapid changes, the basis1 of organizations is called temporary systems2.
4 In our view, resistance is the existence of standing firm or an unwillingness toward implementing a suggested change, and this unwillingness or standing firm may have various reasons such as a desire for stability, habit, regression to childhood, attitude, dependency, lack of trust, personal interests, lack of awareness of consequences, the unknown nature of the subject of change, lack of perceived need for change, disruption of social status, etc.
9 Lewin says that the level of resistance to change is positively related to social values and group standards10 Each member of the organization brings their own personality, behavior, attitudes, and past cultural backgrounds to the organization, and all these characteristics enter into action within the system.
The main objective of the research was to examine the following issues: A- Is there a significant difference in the area of resistance to proposed changes between Iranian and American students?
The questionnaire was designed to measure the level of resistance and acceptance of respondents toward relevant changes in four areas: technological structure, religion, and social values in educational organizations.
