چکیده:
The aim of this article is to study the status of social classes and social mobility in four cities of Fars province and the city of Bushehr in Bushehr province. By randomly selecting these four cities and choosing a port city in the south, more comparison was made possible. A sample with a volume of 1833 was randomly selected from the working population of these five cities, and social classes were examined based on criteria of economic power, organizational power, and professional power. Social mobility was also examined in terms of class and occupational mobility and its types, namely upward, downward, and horizontal mobility, as well as Frechet mobility and intergenerational mobility. The findings show that in the last half century, profound occupational mobility has occurred in our urban society, where the effective factors are education and the change in occupational structure in new societies. Social classes and strata have also undergone transformation and change, but class mobility is not as easy as occupational mobility. Wealth and organizational power are the two main pillars of social classes, and access to them is not as simple as access to education and formal degrees. Different cities in Fars and Bushehr have differences in terms of social classes and social mobility. In a city like Bushehr, the society is more closed, and in cities like Abadeh and Kazerun, the society is more open in terms of social mobility.
