چکیده:
The aim of this research is to decompose energy intensity in Iran's manufacturing industries. The decomposition of energy intensity into structural effect and intensity effect is performed for the entire industry and Iran's 9 industrial sectors using the Laspeyres index and the arithmetic mean Divisia index. To this end, data from the Statistical Center of Iran for industrial workshops with 10 or more workers during the period 1374 to 1386 were used. From a conceptual perspective, the structural effect is the effect resulting from changes in the composition of value-added industrial activities, and the intensity effect, as the effect resulting from changes in net energy intensity, is considered a suitable tool for measuring energy efficiency from total energy intensity. The results show that in the overall industry, the intensity effect has a larger share in total effect changes compared to the structural effect. In most industries, the intensity effect has been more influential than the structural effect, and in some cases, both effects have been influential; in most cases, the intensity effect has moved towards reducing energy intensity.

In this study, more attention was paid to the general parametric Divisia method, and the results indicate that sectoral energy intensity changes play an important role in the fluctuations of total energy intensity in India's manufacturing industries compared to changes in the production structure of activities.
