We analyze the influence of literature on the paintings of the Shiraz School. In this research, we have found that literature and miniature painting have a dialectical relationship. To achieve a comprehensive understanding of paintings, one must seek help from literary concepts, and conversely, miniature painting gives embodiment and objectivity to literary concepts. Therefore, it can be said that text and image are translators of each other. Imagination is one of the essential elements in the formation of an artwork. The imaginary forms that artists use to express their purposes and thoughts generally have roots in mythological and cultural beliefs. For this reason, a kind of affinity and kinship exists among the imaginary forms of different arts, and often different arts are under the influence of each other in employing imaginary forms. Literature and miniature painting have long been in service of each other. In the margins of manuscripts, miniature images were used to more clearly express the literary text. In fact, miniature painting has been a visual expression of the literary text, depicting literary concepts through the language of line and color. In contrast, literature has been the mental and abstract expression of the painted form.
