Some principles of Aristotelian dramatic structure, such as complication, resolution, crisis, climax, and falling action, can be observed in Yadgar-e Zariran, and we do not know whether these are the result of the influence of Greek culture on Iran during the Parthian and Sassanid eras or not; however, if Yadgar-e Zariran had not remained merely as a text but had also been performed, some performance characteristics could hypothetically be considered that would embody it as an Eastern drama.
Yadgar-e Zriran is an epic story related to a religious war that takes place between the Iranians following the religion of Zoroaster, occurs between the commander Zarir, brother of King Goshtasp, and the believers of the former religion (the Hyonians).
"72 Therefore, considering "this point that believers (Zoroastrian religion) were inclined to embody the descent of the souls of the dead in a certain way during the end-of-year festival and the beginning of spring, which brings us closer to the art of performance, and it is not unlikely that Yadgar-e Zriran was recited during one of the Nowruz festivals of Anhar and Forudegan and certain verses were performed,"82 performing the play in the spring season is reminiscent of the time of ritual ceremonies in Mesopotamia, Egypt, and ancient Greece, which were related to the growth of plants and the return of the dead to the world of the living, and the art of performance also emerged from these very ceremonies.
