The last century was dubbed the century of oil in terms of strategic resources, and the current century will likely be the century of water. Given the climatic, economic, and social developments at the global level, most countries in the world will face this perspective by the middle of the present century. In the last century, water disputes in many parts of the world have been an inseparable part of the diplomacy of countries. This issue has been of significant importance in all regions surrounding Iran. This article intends to answer these questions: What will the global outlook of the water crisis be in the coming decades? What are the most important reasons for the occurrence of the water crisis in the world? From what aspects is the water crisis important for Iran? What are the reasons for the occurrence of the water crisis in Central Asia? What solutions can be proposed to overcome this crisis? Therefore, it will be attempted, by referring to reports from international institutions, while examining the global outlook of the water crisis and investigating the causes of this phenomenon at the global level, specifically to examine the roots and reasons of this crisis in the Central Asian region and, while answering the above questions, to consider solutions for overcoming this crisis. The main assumption of this writing is that, given the developments in various economic, social, and ecological fields, the water crisis will gain more importance in the coming decades and will have a decisive impact on the diplomacy of most countries in the world, and especially the peripheral regions of Iran.

(Foroughi, 1382:571) Major Reasons for the Occurrence of the Water Crisis in the World The reasons for the occurrence of the water crisis at the global level, and specifically in the relations between the countries of the world in the coming decades, can be examined from the following three perspectives: - Scarcity of water resources and the increasing use of existing water resources; - Sharing of groundwater resources and transboundary rivers; - Inadequacy of international laws governing shared waters.
In total, these factors have led to increased consumption and the need for access to water resources, and the shortage of these resources, in addition to causing crises within countries, may also provide the grounds for conflict and dispute in the relations of countries involved in the crisis with other countries, especially neighbors that share some water resources such as groundwater reserves or transboundary rivers.
