Professor Dr. Shafiei Kadkani, in his introduction to the photographic print of this book, has given his view on this matter, and his opinion is the final word; he has written: "By overlooking the countless errors of the scribe and some weaknesses that are probably attributable to the speaker himself, it can be said that 'Rabi' (the author of Ali Nameh) has also composed some good and noteworthy verses.
In other epic-religious poems that we have from the ninth century onwards, the closer we get to our time, the more the rigorous historical texts are diminished and added to the realm of legends; so much so that the late Dr. Mohammad Jafar Mahjoub, regarding the last Shiite epic poem, namely 'Eftekhar Nameh-ye Heydari' by Mirza Mustafa Eftekhar al-Ulama, composed at the end of the thirteenth century during the era of Nasir al-Din Shah and printed via lithography in 1301 AH in Tehran, writes: "This book is the first poetic book that is introduced as being based on folk tales" 2-The second reason for the superiority of Ali Nameh over subsequent religious-epic poems is that the language of Ali Nameh, because it was composed in 284 [AH], meaning about 05 years after Ferdowsi, (and only in its language and not its poetic essence) is naturally and spontaneously very similar to the language of the Shahnameh, not like the subsequent similar poems which were through imitation and emulation; and this is a subtle and precise point.
