چکیده:
The aim of this research is to provide a model for the digital archive desk of the National Archives Department of the National Archives and Library Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Based on an analysis of the content characteristics of digital archive desks providing this service, which have English language websites or have English versions in addition to the national language. The present research is descriptive in nature and was conducted using the content analysis method. The data collection tool is a checklist that was sent to specialists in library and information science in Iran to determine the importance of the components required in designing Iran's digital archive desk; overall, 138 people responded to this checklist. In total, the websites of 33 digital archive desks were subjected to content analysis. The results of the research showed that the website of the National Archives of Canada, with 15 features, had the highest number of features in terms of the current status, while the digital archive desks of the 'Georgia University' and 'Karen Handel University Library Archive' websites in the USA had the lowest frequency with 3 features. The features 'Name' and 'Question' had the highest frequency among the features in the current status. And the features 'Type of information required' and 'Subject of question' had the highest frequency in the desirable status. The results also showed that the digital archive desk websites of the 'Ruth Lee Lily Special Library' and 'Harvard University', having 5 features, have the highest frequency in the desirable status. The results obtained from the data analysis showed that there is a significant difference between the results obtained from the content analysis (current status) and the opinions of library and information science specialists in Iran (desirable status). The results also showed that website designers do not pay much attention to the information needs of their users and have only proceeded with designing digital archive desks based on their own interests and inclinations. Finally, based on the opinions of these specialists, a suitable model for designing the digital archive desk of the National Archives Center of Iran has been provided.

Overall, the findings of this research indicate that the reference desks of the studied libraries have weak designs, and all of them possess less than 50 percent of the important characteristics from the perspective of experts; finally, based on the results obtained from analyzing the opinions of these experts regarding the importance of content characteristics, a pattern for the digital reference desk of the National Library of the Islamic Republic of Iran has been provided (5:1).

Ranking of the studied websites based on the opinions of experts in Library and Information Science in Iran (Refer to the page image) (Refer to the page image) and education level or an average above the number 3 were selected as important and essential components in the design of the desired digital archive desk.
