The institute's work program in the field of drafting international contracts and uniform laws consists of studying and researching the private laws of various states and harmonizing them with each other; preparing draft agreements on matters relating to private law; utilizing studies and research conducted by other international institutions in this regard and maintaining contact with them; organizing conferences; and publishing results obtained from research and study in the field of unifying private law.
The work of this council consists of approving drafts prepared by the Research and Study Commission, taking necessary measures for the research and implementation of said drafts, approving the institute's annual report, and supervising the income and expenses of the apparatus and matters related to its budget.
During the first period of the institute's activity, it was limited to preparing several drafts in the field of the unification of private laws, which include the draft concerning the international sale of tangible movable property, the draft on international arbitration in matters related to private law, and the draft on the liability of innkeepers regarding the loss of or damage to passengers' luggage.
(1)- L'unification du droit unification of Law 1- The draft on the international sale of tangible movable property, consisting of 113 articles, which after a long discussion was prepared and in 1951, at the invitation of the Dutch government, was discussed in a political conference; finally, for the revision and completion of the study of states regarding it, it has been decided that in April of this year, at the invitation of the aforementioned government, all member states will meet in The Hague to conduct a final review.
