The World's Largest Carpet Unveiled According to the Cultural Heritage News Agency, the world's largest carpet was displayed in the presence of the Minister of Commerce, the CEO of the Iran Carpet Company, and the head of the National Carpet Center.
The unveiling of the world's largest carpet took place at a time when, due to its vast size, the Tehran Musalla was considered the only suitable location for its display, so that in addition to having sufficient space in terms of surface coverage, it could accommodate the environment required for maintaining the carpet.
The weaving of this carpet is in nine pieces and will be transported to the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi, where they will cut the areas where the columns are located and place the carpet in its original position.
He added that behind the beautiful and vibrant knots of the world's largest handmade carpet lie the efforts and pains of the artists who weave Iran's handmade carpets.
Jalaluddin Bassam, the CEO of the Iran Carpet Company, also stated that the weaving of this carpet was completed after numerous negotiations over a period of 2 years, making it unique in its own kind in the world.
The carpet was woven in nine pieces with approximately two billion and 200 million knots in three workshops in Nishapur, where about 1200 weavers worked in two shifts, dedicating a total workload equivalent to 3 million person-hours; if one person were to weave this carpet, it would require a time equivalent to 1250 years.
