It is worth noting that here the term 'text' is used in a semiotic sense; therefore, anything—whether oral or written speech, moving or still images, music, sound, movement, or volume—that is considered within a specific framework in a particular situation and is, based on that, distinguished from its context and other adjacent elements, is called a text.
It is worth mentioning that these three categories have been considered based on the position of meaning formation, namely within the linguistic system, in context and use, and in the mind during the cognitive process.
In other words, in many cases, whether in a musical text or in other multilayered texts, language plays the role of a semantic anchor and, in a sense, directs and delimits the meaning of other layers, especially music, in an associative sense; there is extensive discussion regarding kinetic and visual layers that does not fit within this field.
Overall, it must be said that it seems the aspect of signification of the meaning of a musical text refers more to general situations and concepts, and of course, to a specific type that is well-known and culturally agreed upon.
Whether meaning is considered intra-linguistic at the level of word and sentence, or in relation to the language's connection to the outside—situational context, text constructor, text interpreter, or the macro social and cultural context—in any case, when it is used in a linguistic event or, in a sense, in a specific discourse, the meaning is "specific"; also, regarding the relationship between the signifier and the signified, a collective and consensual agreement exists, albeit in a limited way.
