چکیده:
Khuzestan has an ancient history of urbanization. In the past, the population growth of the cities in this province was slow, influenced by endogenous factors. With the beginning of oil extraction and export activities during the last century, exogenous factors have caused an increasing growth in the population of the cities in this region. The occurrence of the imposed war of Iraq against Iran (1980-1988) transformed the population distribution system at the level of villages and cities and caused demographic transformations in the cities of Khuzestan; the phenomenon of primacy in this province is a product of the expansion of capitalist relations and the centralized political-economic system.
