Abstract: In this research, the general and technical characteristics of Middle Persian and Parthian (Arsacid Pahlavi) poetry of the Middle period, namely the Arsacid and Sassanid eras, are examined.
(*)Faculty member of Shahid Beheshti University Introduction Although not many poems from Middle Iranian literature have remained, the existence of two poems, Derakht-e Asorik and Yadgar-e Zariran, which are Parthian (Arsacid Pahlavi) hymns and Sassanid era Middle Persian poems, proves the existence of a stable poetic tradition during this period.
Benveniste found eleven syllables in succession from the repetition of the hemistich "ayum abr tar az tu, derakht Asorik!" and then divided the text into segments of 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 syllables, concluding that the meter of Avestan, Pahlavi, and Middle Persian, or Pahlaviyat, is based on the number of syllables and that the quantity of syllables is in no way significant in them.
The meter of the poem Yadgar-e Zariran is one of the complex issues of Middle Persian poetry.

Of course, it should not be concluded that rhyme in Middle Persian poetry follows a specific and regular system, and truly the ambiguity regarding rhyme is equal to the ambiguity regarding the meter of the poems of this period.
" Khanlari also believes regarding the meter of Pahlavi poetry that, like folk and local songs and poems, the foundation of their meter is based on syllable quantity and word stress, and these two factors together created the meter.
