Ahmad bin Husayn bin Ubaydullah al-Ghada'iri, known as Ibn Ghada'iri (in the first half of the 5th century AH), authored the book Al-Du'afa wal-Madhmumin, famously known as Rijal Ibn al-Ghada'iri, to identify unreliable, notorious, weak, and untrustworthy men and narrators within the realm of Shia Hadith. Since the 7th century AH—after the book appeared on the scene—Shia scholars and experts in Rijal have presented various views regarding 'Ibn Ghada'iri' and the book Al-Du'afa. In the contemporary era, Sheikh Agha Bozorg Tehrani and Ayatollah Khoei, due to the reliability and high status of Ibn Ghada'iri, have not accepted the attribution of the book Al-Du'afa to him, arguing that it is impossible for Ibn Ghada'iri to author a book in which many Shia men and narrators are weakened. The author, with attention to the opinions of experts, first presents and introduces the various aspects of the views of these two authorities and then critiques and examines them, finding and demonstrating the opposing and contradictory reason to the aforementioned view in the words and approach of Ayatollah Khoei.
