چکیده:
The aim of the present research was to construct and validate a tool for evaluating social responsibility in Razi University. To this end, an exploratory sequential mixed-methods research design was used, and in the qualitative section, the focus group method was employed (n = 27). The statistical population in the quantitative section consisted of PhD students, faculty members, and experts of Razi University (N = 1425), from which 152 individuals were selected as a statistical sample using the proportional stratified sampling method. The face and content validity of the research tool were confirmed by the focus group and the calculation of the 'Content Validity Ratio,' and construct validity was confirmed using the Average Variance Extracted (AVE), while reliability was confirmed through the calculation of composite reliability and Cronbach's alpha coefficient. The research findings showed that university activities for fulfilling their social responsibility towards society can be identified in 9 dimensions, including: responsibility towards students, responsibility towards staff and faculty members, economic responsibility, responsibility towards partner universities (inter-university cooperation), responsibility towards the external community, responsibility towards the environment, responsibility towards quality education, responsibility for culture-building, and university leadership (management) responsibility. These dimensions together explain 518.81 percent of the variance in university social responsibility. Furthermore, the findings showed that university activities in the field of social responsibility do not have equal weight and each has a different weight and share.

Given this concept, universities must contribute to the promotion of ethical values, social change, and sustainable development, and comprehensively assist in improving the quality of human life (Leal, Filho, Doni, Vargas, Wall, Hindley, Rayman-Bacchus, Emblen-Perry, Boddy & Avila, 2019).
Given the importance and significant position of University Social Responsibility in achieving sustainable development goals in all their forms (economic, social, and environmental), many efforts have been made to integrate it into the university structure (Alimohammadlou, Akbari, Mahdavianpour, 2014; Amini, Rahimi, Salehi & Mousavi, 2013; Ayuso, Carbonell & Serradell, 2021; Baradaran Haghir et al.
These can include cases such as the increasing unemployment of university graduates, students not being equipped with the skills required by the labor market, the lack of a systematic connection between societal needs and university outputs, inconsistency between university activities and other governmental and non-governmental institutions, university irresponsibility towards its graduates, environmental destruction by members of society who were once part of the university, the development of degree-orientedness among younger generations, the low effectiveness of academic research in solving economic, industrial, agricultural, and social problems and countless other issues (Abdollahzadeh & Sharifzadeh, 2009; Alizadeh, Sedighi, Pezeshki Rad & Farasatkhah, 2017).
Despite this, some researchers have contributed significantly to the advancement of the definition of University Social Responsibility Journal of Research and Planning in Higher Education, Volume 28, Number 3, 2022 117 (Boni & Gasper, 2012; Reiser, 2008; Unesco, 1997; Vasilescu, Barna, Epure (2006 ,Taddei & Velazquez, Munguia, Platt ; 2010 ,Baicu &.
