In order to understand the religious and social conditions of the Timurid period, the way in which Timurid sultans interacted with religious figures, becomes an important issue. The present paper tries to make the above issue clear though unswerving this question that what kind of interaction and confrontation between the Timurid sultans and religious characters can be identified. The current paper aims to describe the confrontation of the Timurid with religious issues, determine of Timurid rulers, and analyze the interactions of religious figures with Timurid rulers, The achieved result of this research show that the religious figures were of different kinds. The Timurid rulers tried to communicate with each of them and use to validate the government and achieve their own goals.

According to researchers, in Islamic era Iran, religious personalities constituted a part of the 'people of the pen' (ahl al-qalam) who held important roles in managing societal affairs.
Given the important role and position of religious personalities in society, the way Timurid sultans interacted with them becomes an important and noteworthy issue.
It seems that Amir Timur expressed interest in religion to utilize the spiritual influence and social prestige of religious personalities to achieve his goals.
Regarding Amir Timur's attention to religious personalities, it is stated in the Tazkirat: "For every kingdom that I conquered, I cherished the beloved ones of that kingdom, and I honored and respected the Sayyids, scholars, virtuous men, and sheikhs, and I established their soyurghals, stipends, and customs" (Hosseini Tarbati, 1963: 344).
In the year 773 AH, upon the suggestion of the religious personalities of Transoxiana to resolve the animosity with Amir Husayn Sufi, the ruler of Khwarizm accepted the mediation of Mawlana Jalal al-Din (Khafi, 1339: 3/105; Natanzi, 1383: 233-234).
Due to their importance and prestige, some religious personalities assumed administrative and governmental positions; Sayyid Fakhr al-Din Muhammad held the leadership of the Divan al-A'la for many years during the time of Shah Rukh (Khafi, 1339: 3/173; Khondamir, 1362: 3/598; Hafiz Abru, 1372: 2/655).
The Timurids sought to benefit from the existence of religious personalities to advance their various goals and, while establishing friendly and respectful relations with them, increase the prestige and legitimacy of their government.
Religious personalities in the Timurid era held significant status, prestige, importance, and respect among the rulers and various strata of society.
