چکیده:
Although the study of Mas'udi's historiographical career is not limited to the book Al-Tanbih wa al-Ishraf, it can be said that it encompasses the main framework of his historiography. Mas'udi, a prominent historian of the third and fourth centuries AH, is considered one of the founders of analytical and rational historiography, who, through the authorship of his works, implemented a specific approach to analytical historiography based on reason. Mas'udi's Al-Tanbih wa al-Ishraf is one of the general books of the mid-fourth century AH which, despite its brevity and simplicity, provides a vast amount of historical, geographical, and philosophical information to the reader. The main subject of this writing is identifying the sources of Mas'udi's historiographical information in Al-Tanbih wa al-Ishraf. The use of texts such as Greek, Arabic, Christian, Jewish, and even Indian sources, which indicates an effort to better enrich the content, as well as the use of geographical knowledge and the utilization of the important and efficient method of observation and debate, combined with a rationalist mind and its substantiation, are among the main axes of the sources and methods used by Mas'udi in acquiring news and historical knowledge for writing history, which has made him an heir to the tradition of analytical historiography.
