The knowledge of political thought is a title that refers to the scientific and fundamental needs of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the field of the foundations of politics and political life. In Iran, political thought has experienced many ups and downs throughout history, and it has only been for a short time that it has been taught and studied as a separate discipline in Iranian universities. The examination and evaluation of the status of academic sources of the knowledge of political thought constitutes the main goal of the present research; accordingly, an attempt has been made using the SWOT analysis tool to identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the knowledge of political thought as a platform for creating academic sources, and through this path, solutions for improving the current status of the sources of this knowledge are provided.
