چکیده:
The book Al-Sahih min Sirat al-Nabi al-A'zam, authored by Sayyid Ja'far Murtada al-Amili, is one of the most important sources in Sira studies, in which various historical methods have been used. In this writing, Amili's methods in evaluating historical probabilities in the book Al-Sahih are identified, categorized, and an example is mentioned for each. The evaluation of historical probabilities by Amili can be categorized into the following three cases: 1. Preferring a historical probability, such as: preferring a probability consistent with the character of the person in question, preferring a probability in harmony with the explicit wording of the historical narration, preferring a probability by rejecting one of two conflicting probabilities, preferring a probability by citing other similar narrations or the frequency (tawatur) of narrations, preferring a probability according to taste and preference; 2. Rejecting a historical probability, such as: rejecting a probability without reason, rejecting a probability by citing the character of the person in question or the context of the narrations, rejecting a probability that contradicts the apparent meaning of the narration; 3. Rejecting the justifications of others, such as: rejecting a justification that contradicts the explicit narration, rejecting the justification of reconciling conflicting narrations by citing the sayings of the great Companions and the Tabi'un.

2. Referring to the explicit statement of a narration Amili, if among various probabilities one is consistent with the explicit statement of a historical narration, he prefers it; for example, regarding the narrations related to the events of the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah which state: "Ten Muslims went to Mecca with the permission of the Prophet"8, after presenting the matter that there is a dispute regarding their method of entering Mecca, whether they entered secretly or were under the protection of Uthman ibn Affan (d.
3. Contradiction with the apparent meaning of the narration Amili, in evaluating historical narrations, after proposing various probabilities, does not accept a probability that contradicts the apparent meaning of the text; for example, regarding the narration of the presence of two women named "Umm Salama" and "Asma bint Umays" at the wedding ceremony of Lady Zahra, after proposing various probabilities about "Umm Salama" — such as that the kunya of Asma, daughter of Yazid al-Ansari, was Umm Salama; therefore, perhaps the narrators have referred to her once by the name Umm Salama and another time by the name Asma — he writes at the end: It is possible that Umm Salama was present at Fatima's marriage ceremony in Dhu al-Hijjah in the second year of the Hijri; because the author of al-Isti'ab says: The Messenger of God married Umm Salama in Shawwal of the second year of the Hijri after Badr; it has also been said before Badr.
