The most important of them are in the discussion of cognition (knowledge and reason). Based on his epistemological system, Mirza Isfahani has presented a new analysis regarding the designation of words for external meaning. This article attempts to provide a report on the premises and principles of this theory. The most prominent branch of Islamic sciences that seriously deals with the issue of linguistics, the nature of word and meaning, and the connection between them is the science of Usul al-Fiqh; therefore, discussing linguistics based on the theories of Islamic thinkers requires referring to the views of the theorists of Usul al-Fiqh. Mirza Mahdi Isfahani, the founder of the Khorasan school of knowledge and one of the top students of Mirza Na'ini, due to his special view on epistemology and ontology, considers the truth of words to be signicity and indexicality, and their referent and meaning to be the essence of realities and not their mental forms. His theory in the discussion of words, on one hand, is in opposition to 'Zaban-shur' based on the teachings of Transcendent Wisdom and its epistemological and ontological theories (because essentially his theories are in opposition to the foundations of Transcendent Wisdom) and on the other hand, is in opposition to the jurisprudential theories that are based on the thoughts and teachings of Transcendent Wisdom.
