Rhetorical sciences (Ma'ani, Bayan, and Badi') play an undeniable role in explaining and analyzing the rhetorical inimitability of the Qur'an and responding to doubts about its inimitability by providing the principles and rules of eloquence and rhetoric. By describing the quantity and quality of this role-playing, while presenting the position of these sciences in the subject of the inimitability of the Qur'an, it will illustrate the necessity of addressing these sciences within the introductory discussions of Qur'anic sciences. The importance of rhetorical knowledge in the discussion of the inimitability of the Qur'an is such that the first books on the inimitability of the Qur'an have mostly focused on presenting rhetorical topics. With the help of the achievements of rhetorical sciences, in addition to responding to arguments and doubts regarding the view of expediency in the secret of the Qur'an's inimitability, numerous flaws can be identified in the dimensions of the inimitability of this divine book. These aforementioned criticisms can be classified into three general areas: rhetorical inimitability, harmony, and content. In the realm of rhetorical inimitability, doubts regarding repetition and challenge (tahaddi) can be answered, and in the field of harmony inimitability, doubts raised regarding restrictions (hasr), eloquent similes (tashbihat baligh), and the precedence and delay of Qur'anic words can be resolved. Some content-related doubts, which are raised with the aim of casting doubt on the teachings and themes of the Qur'anic verses, can also be answered on this same basis.

Baqillani, a rhetorical scholar of the fourth century, believes that even if the reader is at an average level in the art of literature and the science of Arabic, by looking first at the order of the Quran and secondly at the words of the Prophet, they will realize the distance between the two structures and the difference between the two discourses.
39 Thirdly, assuming the superiority of poetry over prose in similar conditions, one can conduct a field investigation to prove the specific superiority of the Quranic prose over poetry between these two; as Baqillani in Al-I'jaz al-Qur'an, while describing the poetic masterpieces of the most famous Arab poets, compares them with the luminous verses of the Quran; although he fundamentally considers weighing the meter between the Quran and poetry to be improper, citing this prophetic narration (peace be upon him and his family) which stated: «فضل کلام اللّه علی سائر الکلام کفضل اللّه علی خلقه؛40 The superiority of God's word over all other words is like the superiority of God over His creation».
