In this article, two questions are answered: 1- What is political philosophy? Political philosophy is a branch of philosophy that analyzes political phenomena such as: government, power, sovereignty, legitimacy, and justice using abstract methods. Political theology, unlike political philosophy, relies on revelation and seeks to prove revelatory propositions through rational, traditional, and empirical methods. 2- What are the types of political philosophy? Political philosophy is divided into two categories: classical and modern, and it can vary according to the diversity of philosophical schools (phenomenology, structuralism, Marxism, etc.). The question of ancient political philosophy is human happiness, while the question of modern political philosophy is the goals of the state or city (and institution-building). Analytical political philosophy, with an analytical and second-order approach, deals with the analysis of language and concepts related to political philosophy. If political philosophy is imagined to be devoid of the aid of revelation, it does not acquire the description of "Islamic"; however, based on four other criteria (which are stated in the text of the article), one can speak of "Islamic political philosophy".

To understand philosophical political thought as it existed in the political thoughts and ideas of Plato and was explained by Aristotle and the Neoplatonists, we must shift from the fundamental principles of philosophy in Islam — revelatory rights dictated by the Prophet versus human rights — toward a definition of the goal and scope of political sciences.
