Culture and Thought On Islamic-Christian Dialogue{P1P} By: MP Mohammad Raad 1- On its necessity and conditions: Religious Necessity: Adherents of religions that carry a call or proselytization are naturally called to dialogue with the other, either to reinforce their own creed or to expose the gaps in the other's creed.
From here, since religious necessity requires a dialogue of a different kind, it also requires eyes, ears, and tongues that are illuminated with the light of knowledge and truth, unclouded by darkness or malice.
And we have not heard, until today, any strong voices calling for another direction for national dialogue that transcends the mentality of top-down partition and impossible balance.
Is it not time to replace the continuous temporary settlement, which is the symbolic name or the exact equivalent of a continuous and temporary civil war, with a permanent and continuous national understanding, which moves the Lebanese citizen—belonging to diverse and different sects, creeds, ideas, and parties—from a state of anxiety and fear to a state of tranquility, so that effort is focused more on building and developing this country rather than on building a house outside Lebanon or obtaining a non-Lebanese citizenship.
D) Launching national dialogue on new pillars, and to put it more clearly, striving to find a formula for a state whose citizens belong to multiple sects and ideas, but which possesses unified institutions in construction, formation, and continuity.
