Strategic thinking plays a very important role in ensuring survival and progress in today's changing and dynamic environment; it is also a tool that helps managers create new opportunities. The role of managers in the strategic planning process and decision-making depends on how they think, and strategic planning frameworks only provide the questions whose answers are based on the managers' methodology and their thinking in decision-making. The aim of the present research is to identify and analyze the key factors affecting strategic thinking as a core competency in the organization. In this study, first, by reviewing the research literature, 23 key factors (competencies) of strategic thinking were extracted, and then by distributing a questionnaire among professors and experts related to the subject, their opinions regarding the selection of more important key factors or the addition of other factors were queried, which ultimately identified 8 key factors. After identifying the final key factors, the effectiveness and mutual relationships between these factors were also queried from experts and professors related to this field, and finally, using a combined approach of the Grey System Theory and the DEMATEL method, the research data were analyzed. The results show the degree of influence, susceptibility, and interaction of the factors and their grouping into causal and effect factors.
