Collapse of Sassanid Dynasty and entry of Islam into Iran was the beginning of
collapse of sociopolitical and cultural structures of ancient age and a development
in the fundamentals of Iranians social life that within second and third centuries
AH, expressed different reactions and positions under impact of politics and direct
ruling style of government and agents of caliphate system. Iranians’ effective and
sensible accompaniment and participation in Abbasid movement for objection and
opposition to the extensive oppression and discrimination of Umayyad Rule was
assumed as important points of these developments which helped the restoration
of sociopolitical role of Iranians at the east of Islamic world and provided
important consequences. Upon victory of Abbasids due to help of Iranian element,
particularly Khorasanians leading by Abumoslem, and stabilization of Abbasid
Caliphate, Iranians that due to sociopolitical pressures and social frustration at
Umayyad age cooperated with this movement hoping to provide better conditions
and promises of Abbasid promoters, and provided the favorite result of its leaders,
another time observed violations and discriminations of Caliphate. Particularly,
upon murder of Abumoslem that was assumed as manifestation of Iranians hope,
the needed excuse was provided for coping with Abbasid government. Hence, in
2nd and 3rd century AH, Iranians that were aware of their sociopolitical ability of
role-playing more than ever, relying on their historical and ideological established
movements and insurrections against caliphate. This study analyzed the religious
nature and social composition of its followers based on descriptive-expressive
method relying on library references. According to the results, most of the said
movements in terms of religious nature had an Iranian and Zoroastrian theme
and in some cases were a combination of Zoroastrian, Mazdak and Khorramdin
religions and sometimes the leaders of these movements intended to amend the
Zoroastrian rites and conform it to Islamic fundamentals and attempted to use the
religious commonalities between Islam and Zoroastrian. Considering the motto of
egalitarianism and justice-seeking of these movements, a lot of people from low
class of society accompanied these movements.
