This study is devoted to investigating six samples of the polychromic slip-painted pottery with white background, which are preserved in the earthenware treasury of Mostazafan Foundation Museum located in Tehran, Iran. All objects kept within this treasury have been found in illegal excavations, and have not been studied to date. Many samples of polychromic slipware with white background are curated in museums throughout the world, some of which have been investigated while others remain uninvestigated. These samples are of various outlines and designs. Each pottery is assigned to a specific workshop. The most important craftworks centers have been Nishapur, Samarkand and Sari, and other samples may have been produced in local crafts hops and centers. The research method of the present study is descriptive-comparative, based on field and library studies for data collection. The polychromic white-background slipware in the treasury of Mostazafan Foundation Museum of Tehran are compared with investigated samples curated in other museums. The objective of the study is to answer the important questions where and when the mentioned slipware have been produced, and to document the obtained information. Dating and comparisons show that the slipware investigated in this research have probably been crafted in north (Sari) and northeast (Nishapur and Samarkand) of Iran, between the third and fifth centuries AH.
