The Islamic revolution, has remained very influential on people’s lifestyle, changed
the path of art and especially the photography of Iran. There are many photographs from
the Revolution which by examining their visual cues, important information can be
found on how people dress, and the street situation and how people behave in different
situations, including social crises. The main questions of this study include: Are there any
commonalities between the visual cues in the photos, and whether these commonalities
convey certain meanings, and if so what meanings and can these symptoms be examined
based on Pierce’s semiotics? This research has been done by descriptive analytical
method and data was collected by using library resources and databases, in addition to
studying semiotics, in written sources, it was specifically devoted to Pierce’s ideas. To
conduct this research, 120 photographs were selected based on the research topic from 6
Iranian photographers and the image cues in these photographs were analyzed based on
the distribution of Pierce’s signs. Findings of the research show that the remaining images
share a lot of things. According to Pierce’s semiotic pattern, they can be divided and all
signs in the pictures are symbolic and have been deliberately used by photographers to
further influence
