The Shu'uabiyyah movement is one of the common study in history of Islam, history of Iran and literary history. Therefore, several researches in the form of books, articles and dissertations in different languages have been devoted to the study of the Shu'uabiyyah movement. However, each group of scholars has come to a different conclusion about the nature of this movement, depending on how they look at Shu'uabiyyah movement from the perspective of history, literature, or political ideology of the time. The problem of the present study is to identify the typology of the Shu'uabiyyah movement studies. The results of the study show that the three currents of Western historiography, Arabic historiography and Iranian historiography can be distinguished from each other in studies related to Shu'uabiyyah. This current is not based on a linguistic or geographical classification, but on the different perspectives and interpretations of Shu'uabiyyah. Western historiography sees the movement as a pure literary movement and reduces it to an intellectual movement contained in the Shu'uabiyyah texts. Arabic historiography was confronted with the presumption that Shu'uabiyyah movement were anti-Islamic on both scientific and ideological levels. At the first level, Arabic researchers sought to provide a historical explanation of the movement, and at the second level, they linked it to the developments in the contemporary Middle East and the role of Iranians in regional politics. Iranian historiography is the third current of Shu'uabiyyah studies, which from the beginning was influenced by the translation of Western and Arabic researches.
