The present paper has studied the causes of crime commitment among youths living in margins of Hamadan City. Existing data indicate that most of youths committing various crimes are generally in marginal areas of city. These areas, which usually face more crimes, are hideouts of different types of illegal activities more than any other inner areas of city. The overall purpose of the present study is to determine whether needs and opportunities are involved in committing crimes or not. And if yes, to what extent each of these two factors (need, and opportunity) affect the incidence and prevention of a crime. Statistical population of this research is youths in the 18–29 age range residing in Hamadan City. The research's sampling has been conducted through available random sampling method and 380 of youths have been selected as sample volume, using Morgan Table. The method of data gathering is through questionnaire. Results revealed that there is a direct relationship between the independent variable of need and crime, and an inverse relationship between independent variable of opportunity and crime. That is, the more people's needs in various aspects of economic, social, and cultural, the more the probability of committing crimes by those people.
