Sa'di has been conferred the title of the most eloquent of the speakers and
the Master of speech, his words being known as the perfect examples of
seemingly simple, hard-to-imitate speech. The subtleties and mysterious codes
abound in Sa'di's witty remarks have made him well worth such titles, notably
in the art of debate.
Sa'di's use of repartee and tip-giving in his Ghazals has led to verses most
of which are regarded as examples of seemingly simple, hard-to-imitate
speech. The present research studies a number of Sa'di's verses indicative of
two divergent viewpoints in the form of dialogues, multiplayer conversations,
and internal monologues. The samples chosen for analysis are mostly based in
fact and are apt to investigation and analysis regarding content, form – i. e.
language and eloquence – as well as the parties involved in the process.
The most recurring theme in these verses is Sa'di's defense of love and
magnification of beauty, clad in satire and argumentation. In these samples, in
order to produce satire, brevity of speech, symmetric language, and artistic
confrontations, the poet has employed various linguistic tricks and literary
devices.
