the basic issue of this research is to investigate the essential structure of "action" in the ‘transcendent philosophy’ and its purpose is to distinguish "action" from similar matters. sadr al-mutalahin distinguishes the action from other acts in its "intentional" nature. in his opinion, "intention" includes the will combined with the "second-order awareness of the agent for the purpose of the action"; therefore, it is not the case that every volitional act is called an action, but action is a volitional act that occurs with the second-order awareness of the agent for the purpose of the action. the results of this research, obtained by using the descriptive-analytical method and through the analysis of the conceptual requirement of action, clear that the definition of sadr al-mutalahin is not an obstacle to other similar matters; because based on the example of "self-aware robot", it is possible to assume an agent who has will and awareness, but his action cannot be classified as "intentional". therefore, in addition to will and awareness, there is a need for a third element to complete the definition of action, and that is "choice". sadr al-mutalahin does not recognize "choice" as the third element of action and reduce it to the same consciousness and will; but in this research, it is revealed that his opinion is wrong and "choice" in the meaning of "free will" should be added to the definition of action.
