Introspection is a way to access the contents of the mind, and its realization depends on the acceptance of the "transparency of the mind" thesis. This thesis forms part of the paradigm of Descartes' philosophy for understanding the mind and is characterized by such properties as immediacy, infallibility, first-person authority, etc. Proponents of the transparency thesis consider the mind as a transparent container in which all its contents, both fixed (such as mental states) and non-fixed (such as mental events), are inherently known. However, experimental tests and philosophical arguments indicate that the mind is full of visible and hidden mediators, makes mistakes in understanding its contents, is unaware of the influence of external factors, and considers itself to be the authority of all its rulings, etc. These cases show that the mind, contrary to Descartes' claim, is not transparent to itself. This article does not seek to deny introspection but tries to test the thesis of transparency by analyzing some of the mentioned properties and de-authenticating them.
