Scientific surveies and excavations over Iran for collecting material culture have been started for a century; however, archaeology failed to understand the meaning of these artifacts. Mainly, the approach of Iran's archeological research is quantitative and historical-cultural one that its resultant typology, stylistics, chronology, comparative study of material culture and cultural transformation of the regions based on the change in the technology of antiquities. However, both the human mind has made this material culture and the mind that gives them meaning, since the material culture ends up in the minds of man and the diagrams of the common mentalities that have created material culture and culture is also a qualitative phenomenon to understand it, it is necessary to use qualitative approaches and methods. The question is, with what approaches and methods can I interpret the material data of the historical period of Iran? What dimensions should be considered in these interpretive approaches? The results show that two approaches of the descriptive phenomenology based on Husserl school by removing the layers of meaning and sympathy with the artifacts and the interpretation phenomenology based on Gadamer school by mixing of the interpreter's horizon and the artifact's horizon based on of Hermeneutics circle and the expression of understanding through language provide the necessary approach in this regard.
