The social disorganization prevailing in the Herandi neighborhood has provided the ground for the formation of various harms and social problems. This study examines social disorganization in the Herandi neighborhood (Darvazeh Ghar) in Tehran and one of its hidden social harms (gambling). The data of this research were collected through qualitative research methods and using interview and observation techniques. The sample size was 35 people, and the number ended with reaching theoretical saturation. The results show that gamblers are mostly men and gambling is done organizedly at intersections and inside the alleys of the neighborhood as well as inside houses. Gamblers can be divided into four categories: local gambler (resident in the area), transient gambler, homeless gambler, and professional gambler. Finally, the research results show that gambling is related to various other social harms such as addiction, theft, family disputes, etc. The issue of gambling is one of the social harms that is related to the unstructured structure of the Herandi neighborhood. Therefore, the social disorganization of the neighborhood creates the ground for this hidden urban harm.

Gambling can be considered from several dimensions; on the one hand, it can be viewed as a social injury that can pave the way for other social injuries1, on the other hand, gambling is a type of illegal urban informal economy in which large sums of money are exchanged, and in the third dimension, some experts have addressed it in relation to consumption and even tourism in the city.
Numerous studies have investigated the reasons for people's inclination towards gambling, including demonstrating personal wealth, gaining social approval and acceptance, rebellion1, relieving painful and negative events and emotions – such as anger, depression, deprivation, and anxiety – hoping to win, seeking excitement, spending time, and entertainment (Oy and Rielo, 2010).
After mentioning the general characteristics of Herandi neighborhood, we will examine one of the hidden social harms of this neighborhood, namely gambling: - General Characteristics of Gamblers: A gambler is generally described as a wandering and anxious individual who, in search of money and achieving his desires, goes to crossroads, alleys, or gambling houses every day.
- Typology of Gamblers In general, based on the researcher's observations and interviews with gamblers, gamblers in the Herandi neighborhood can be categorized into four types: ● Local Gambler (Resident) The first category describes a man who comes every day at sunrise, compelled by the hope of obtaining a large sum of money, to crossroads, alleys, and gambling houses.
Inside these houses, when a gambler loses or wins money, he comes and uses drugs after the gambling game.
