چکیده:
In this article, the concepts of gap, disruption, discontinuity, and generational difference are first defined, and among them, the concept of the generational gap is identified as the most common concept and social issue. Then, quoting Bengston, three major perspectives on the gap or generational disruption are explained: 1- A perspective that supports the existence of a "large gap", 2- A perspective that, in contrast, considers the large gap an illusion and attributes it to the deception of the public by the mass media, and 3- The third perspective is between the two previous perspectives and believes in the existence of "selective disruption and difference" between generations. In examining the generational gap in Iran, four perspectives have been presented: 1- The view of those who defend the existence of a generational gap in Iran, 2- The view of those who believe in generational difference and not generational gap or disruption, 3- The view of those who consider the main issue to be cultural disruption and not generational disruption, and 4- The view of individuals who view this phenomenon with both concern and hope and believe that the current conditions have the potential to expand generational difference to the point of a generational gap, provided that it is not managed properly. To test the hypotheses, data from two national value and attitude transformation schemes in 1999 and 2002 were examined. Based on the findings of these two schemes, it can be said that in all three areas of religious, political, and social values, in some areas there is no clear difference between young people and adults, and in some areas not only is there a significant difference between young people and adults, but this difference has also increased over time.

With this in mind, it can be predicted that in societies that are in a stage of economic prosperity, or have reached such a level of extensive social development that the phenomenon of differentiation of roles, groups, and institutions occurs (1)- Differentiation has occurred or is exposed to severe cultural changes such as revolution, the issue of the generational gap is at least unavoidable for a while.
The first group is influenced by the values of the revolution and assesses this gap as causing an identity crisis and a disconnect of young people from their religious and national history and culture, while the second group considers this gap to be a fundamental and necessary transformation for a society moving towards the future (Aqajari 1382:162 to 178; Saria al-Qalam 1382:169 to 172).

Based on the aforementioned factors, it can be predicted that in societies that 1- are in a stage of economic prosperity, or 2- have reached a level of extensive social development where the phenomenon of differentiation of roles, groups, and institutions has occurred, or 3- are exposed to severe cultural changes such as revolution, the issue of the generational gap is at least unavoidable for a while.
